Fest-Evil 2018

This NEW Halloween inspired three day event will see the freaky and the fun collide in Surfers Paradise! A graveyard full of fun activities and entertainment take place in Cavill Mall and the foreshore across the weekend, from roving zombies and vampires, impromptu dance performances to Halloween vendors, on-site special fx makeup artists and Halloween Markets. The weekend culminates with the Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk on Sunday 28th.

The  Zombie Walk is an annual event which was first introduced to Queensland in 2006. A notoriously popular event in cities around Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Perth, it comes to the Gold Coast in 2018 for the first time EVER! Zombie Walk Australia have entered into a longterm partnership with Surfers Paradise Alliance to bring you Surfers Paradise Fest-Evil.

Fest-Evil offers daily free entertainment in Cavill Mall, all family friendly, including acts like the ‘Ooky Spooky Magic Show’, Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ dance performances, and trick or treating at Surfers Paradises businesses on Saturday. Drax for Kids perform on Sunday prior to the official Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk. After dark, the underworld wakes up and the entertainment continues with live performances in Cavill Mall and a ticketed only Danse Macabre Club Night on Saturday 27th.

The weekend will culminate with the Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk on Sunday 28th, attracting spirited individuals who for one day will become the living dead – zombies, ghouls, ghosts and other undead characters will stagger through the streets of Surfers Paradise and along the beachfront in a chilling sight.

Halloween cosplay comps take place over the weekend, including the search for the King and Queen of the 2018 Zombie Walk. A total prize pool of $4300 is up for grabs so make sure you register on the day for your chance to take home some cold (as a corpse) hard cash! Ramp it up and increase your chances of winning by getting your horror makeup done by one of the available specialist makeup artists in Cavill Mall. For more details on competition categories and how to enter visit the Cosplay Competitions page.

In 2009, Brisbane Zombie Walk became affiliated with the Brain Foundation, a nationally registered charity dedicated to funding world-class research Australia-wide into neurological disorders, brain disease and brain injuries. The Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk will continue to raise funds for the Brain Foundation whilst also offering the public a unique and entertaining event. To date, the Zombie Walks in Australia have raised in excess of $1,000,000 million dollars, with hopes of raising over $20,000 in 2018.  Visit the Fundraising page to see how you can make a donation!
